William Parks, Alamo defender, was born 1805 in North Carolina. He took part in the Siege of Béxar and later served in the Alamo garrison as a member of Capt. Robert White’s infantry company, the Béxar Guards. Parks died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.

I knew nothing about William Parks at the Alamo. But my family started out from North Carolina and some came to Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas on the trail of tears. So yes there is a family connection. But in what way I’m not too sure.

I discovered William Parks’ plaque at the Alamo site. William Parks was a family name for five generations. I have traced back to early 1800s coming from Wilkes County, NC. John Parks was descendent there with many sons.
