John Jones was born 1810 in New York. He traveled to Texas by way of New Orleans as a sergeant in Capt. Thomas Breece’s company of New Orleans Greys. He took part in the Siege of Béxar and later served in the Alamo garrison as lieutenant of Capt. William Blazeby’s infantry company. Jones died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
Northcross, James
James Northcross was born 1804 in Virginia. He served in Capt. Robert M. Coleman’s company during the Grass Fight, took part in the Siege of Béxar, and later served in the Alamo garrison as a member of Capt. William R. Carey’s artillery company. He died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
Shied, Manson
Manson Shied was born 1811 in Georgia. He took part in the Siege of Béxar and later served in the Alamo garrison as a member of Capt. William R. Carey’s artillery company. Shied died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
Hersee, William Daniel
William Daniel Hersee was born 1805 in England. He traveled to Texas by way of Louisiana and was wounded in the Siege of Béxar. He later served in the Alamo garrison and as a sergeant in Capt. William R. Carey’s artillery company. It is not known if his wounds prevented him from taking an active part in the fighting, but Hersee died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
Brown, James Murry
James Murry Brown was born 1800 in Pennsylvania. He moved to Texas in 1835 and registered in De León’s colony on April 17, 1835. He took part in the Siege of Béxar and later served in the Alamo garrison. Brown died in the Battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
