McGee (McGehee), James

James McGee (McGehee) was born in Ireland. He came to Texas by way of New Orleans as a member of Capt. Thomas H. Breece’s company of New Orleans Greys and took part in the Siege of Béxar, in which he was severely wounded. He later served in the Alamo garrison as a member of Capt. William Blazeby’s infantry company. McGee died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.

McFaddin, William M.

William M. McFaddin was born 1819 in Louisiana. At age sixteen William served at the Siege of Béxar. He was a member of the group commanded by Thomas J. Rusk that buried the victims of the Goliad Massacre. He subsequently joined the army of Sam Houston at Columbus and was detailed to guard the wounded and baggage at San Jacinto. He was discharged on his seventeenth birthday, June 8, 1836. He and his son William Perry Herring McFaddin founded the McFaddin Ranch of Beaumont and formed several companies in partnership with Obadiah Kyle and Valentine Wiess for acquiring land, raising cattle and rice, irrigating, and milling rice. During the Civil War McFaddin was detailed to supply beef cattle for the Confederate Army and obtained a license to ferry and swim cattle across the Neches River. He was appointed captain of Patrol District No. 1 by the county court. McFaddin died in 1897.

Robinson, Isaac

Isaac Robinson was born 1808 in Scotland. He took part in the Siege of Béxar and later served in the Alamo garrison as a fourth sergeant in Capt. William R. Carey’s artillery company. He died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.

Garrett, James Girard

James Girard Garrett was born 1806 in Tennessee. He was a resident of Louisiana when he marched to Texas as a member of Capt. Thomas H. Breece’s company of New Orleans Greys in 1835. Garrett took part in the Siege of Béxar and later served in the Alamo garrison. He died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.

Hill, William Green

William Green Hill was born 1801 in North Carolina. In 1835 he entered the Texas army as a private in Fannin’s Brazos Guards. He was a member of Capt. John Yorkqv’s company. He fought at the battle of Concepción on October 28, the Grass Fight on November 26, and the Siege of Béxar. He was elected a first lieutenant of cavalry in December 1835 and a captain of cavalry on January 1, 1836. He was the first signer of the Goliad Declaration of Independence on December 20, 1835, and was one of the six signers appointed as a delegation to present the declaration to the General Council at San Felipe. In January 1836 he was ordered by Travis to contract for uniforms and equipment and to collect recruits for the defense of San Antonio. From June to October 1836 he served in Capt. Washington H. Secrest’s company of Columbia (Washington) Cavalry. Hill died in Brazoria County on June 30, 1860.
